Floating Breakwater

 Moored vessels in yacht ports, directly or indirectly exposed to open water are sometimes ‘prey’ to incoming waves to cause rocking and rolling. In order to minimize this annoying instability effect, Van den Noort Innovations BV in collaboration with FDN Engineering have developed a simple and solid concept to break the wave power by a nearly 80% efficiency. It is applicable in nearly every open port situation, allowing vessels to come and go. Its construction consists of a fibre or steel reinforced concrete slab along with a polystyrene core anchored by  weights, to be used as a docking facility simultaneously.
